Seniors Madyson Flax and Kallie Leiker pull weeds in the outdoor classroom. All officers helped clean the patio on Aug. 9.

Student Council (StuCo) officers met with instructors Alicia Brungardt and Kathy Wagoner Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon to plan StuCo activities for the following year and clean out the library patio.

Officers brainstormed ideas for homecoming, StuCo fundraising, Indian Call, S.A.F.E. (Seat Belts Are For Everyone) and other events.

“We accomplished a lot,” junior Maddie Lohmeyer said. “We planned activities and got the outdoor classroom all in order. It looks really great now. We also got to get to know the other officers a lot better, especially the new freshman officers. I feel like we now have a closer bond which will help us better lead together.”

Freshman Grace McCord agreed that the meeting helped her grow closer to the other officers and feel like she had a place in StuCo.

“High school StuCo is a lot different than middle school StuCo,” McCord said. “At first I was really confused, but now we’re all on the same page and I enjoy being part of the group. I’m excited for all the upcoming StuCo events.”

Sophomore Kassidy Winter encourages everyone to join StuCo this year.

“StuCo is really fun and it’s a good way to get involved in the school,” Winter said. “Even if you haven’t been in StuCo before, try it. It’s a great opportunity.”
