Buckling up makes big bucks

Student council (StuCo) participated in a safe driving activity along with State Farm Insurance to promote wearing a seat belt.

While students left the school, StuCo members and State Farm representatives handed out pamphlets and dollar bills to the drivers.

Senior Kara Brooks participated in this activity with StuCo.

“We covered each exit of the school,” Brooks said. “The students wearing seat belts got a dollar, and the ones who weren’t got a safe driving pamphlet.”

Brooks said she believes the money provides students with incentive to buckle their belts.

“It’s really important to promote safe driving,” Brooks said.

Brooks added that the money given out wasn’t provided by StuCo, but State Farm Insurance.

“Student council will also be doing our usual safe driving program later this year,” Brooks said.
