Randall Rath has accepted the position of football/track coach at Hays High, according to athletic director Chris Michaelis.

Rath replaces Bo Black, who recently resigned his position to take a position at Shawnee Mission Northwest.

The hiring will not be official until the board approves it, which is expected to take place at the Feb. 13 meeting.

Rath comes to Hays from Cimarron, where he spent one year as coach. Prior to that, he coached a variety of sports at Oakley High School for 24 years, resigning in the fall of October 2013.

Rath coached football for 16 years at Oakley and had a career mark of 124-51. He also coached girls basketball and served as track coach.

Rath won a Class 2A state basketball title in 2006-07 and led the Plainsmen to state three times. In track, Oakley recently finished third on the girls side in 2009.
