The fall musical All Shook Up was nominated for 17 categories out of the total 23 and took home 12 awards including Overall Production at the annual Jester Awards.

The event was held at the The Orpheum Theatre in Wichita.

Senior Nick Overbey won Leading Actor and also a $2,000 scholarship given to only one male and one female per year.

“I am absolutely speechless,” Overbey said. “It’s an honor that is beyond my version of reality.”

The students not only received awards at the event but also resurrected certain scenes in All Shook Up to perform.

“I enjoyed seeing our students get recognized for their amazing talent and hard work,” music director Johnny Matlock said. “I watched them more than I did the show.”

The musical All Shook Up was awarded the most Jester Awards out of any other high school that attended.

“The work of building an outstanding music and Fine Arts programs takes decades,” Matlock said. “Teachers, students and the community have worked hard, come together and we are seeing the results.  The cast members’ faces and the pride on the parents’ faces were priceless.”
