Senior Katie DInkel speaks with Coach Mark Watts at the Smoky Hill Country Club. Watts was named All-WAC coach of the year and Dinkel won All-WAC player of the year.

On Oct. 4, the girls golf team took seven players to the Great Bend Invitational that was played at the Dodge City Country Club because of the condition of the usual location of Stoneridge Golf Course. All seven players made the Top 10.
Senior Katie Dinkel earned first place with a score of 74, sophomore Jaycee Oakley took third with a 78, junior Lily Garrison shot an 83 for fourth, senior Claire Humphrey placed seventh with an 88, junior Abbie Norris shot an 87 for eighth, juniors Ashlyn Banker and Evyn Cox both shot an 81, and Banker took ninth and Cox took 10th. They took first at this tournament and broke the school record for the third time this season with a score of 323.
With this meet being the final Western Athletic Conference tournament, final standings were released. As a team, Hays took first in WAC. Dinkel won WAC Player of the Year, along with All-WAC honors, and head coach Mark Watts won WAC Coach of the Year; both Dinkel and Watts repeated those honors from last year. Norris and Oakley were also named First Team All-WAC, and Cox, Garrison and Humphrey were named Second Team All-WAC.
