Girls golf participates in Dodge City and Liberal tournaments

On Sept. 8, the Hays High girls golf team went to the Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City. They played 18 holes, where par is 73.

Senior Katie Dinkel placed fifth after shooting a 78, junior Abbie Norris placed ninth with an 84, sophomore Jaycee Oakley shot an 88 for 15th and junior Evyn Cox placed 17th with a 90.

As a team, they shot a 340, which earned them second out of 11 teams, including 5A and 6A schools.

Liberal hosted their annual Liberal Redskin Invitational at Willow Tree Golf Course on Sept. 12, and the lady Indians golf team had five members place in the Top 10. They each played nine holes, where par is 36.

Dinkel placed third with a 39, Norris shot a 42 for fifth, Cox took sixth after shooting a 43, Oakley took seventh with a 45 and senior Claire Humphrey placed eighth after shooting a 49.

The top four had a combined score of 169, which earned them first place.
