Senior Jordan Dale verbally committed to Washburn University for track and field on Dec. 28, 2021, and made it official when he signed in the cafeteria on Jan. 26.

Dale is a multi-sport athlete with football, basketball and track and field, but he will pursue track and field at the collegiate level. His main event is high jump, the event in which he earned second in the 5A state tournament for clearing 6’4”.

“It felt really relieving to finally sign and take the weight off my shoulders,” Dale said. “I really want to go there, and It felt good to get it out of the way.”

What most drew Dale to Washburn rather than his other offers, was their facilities.

“It was a really cool thing to see their indoor facilities,” Dale said. “It was a brand-new indoor track and football field, and I really want to be able to compete and practice in a place like that every day.”

Dale plans to join the team for the Spring 2023 during his freshman year.

“I’m very excited to have specialized event training,” Dale said. “I’ve never really had a specialized coach for my position so I’m anxious to see what I’ll be able to do an achieve.”
