Volleyball team goes undefeated in three match-ups

The Hays High Indian volleyball team took on Dodge City, Sublette and Lakin on Thursday, Sept. 9.

First, Hays took on Dodge City, coming out strong from the start. Hays won two straight sets, 2-0, for the win.

After Dodge City, Hays faced off against Sublette. After yet another impressive performance, the Indians won again, 2-0.

Finally, the Indians played against Lakin. In the first game against Lakin, Hays dominated again, sweeping 2-0. In the second game, Hays capped off the night with a sweep yet again, winning 2-0.

Hays tallied up 29 aces, 63 kills and 79 digs for the night. Junior Carly Lang led the team in serves received passing a 2.22, aces with nine, kills with 13 and digs with 25. Junior Rilee Schwarz and seniors Aleyia Ruder and Ella Voth also showed out, each with 12 kills on the night. Senior Kenzie Flax had 28 assists, and senior Lauryn Miller had four blocks.

After an impressive night, Hays now sits at a record of 7-4. Their next game will be against the 2-7 Garden City at home on Sept. 16.
