Junior Sydney Fagan waits at the plate for a pitched to be thrown during the first home game of the season against Dodge City.

On April 6, the lady Indians traveled to Dodge City to kick off their Western Athletic Conference games for the season. The Indians fell to the Red Demons, 6-1.

The game was scoreless up until the top of the fourth inning when freshman Lakyn Zimmerman hit a single to center field with two outs to score junior Brenna Schwien, who was on third.

The Red Demons went on to score two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the Indians never were able to recover from those runs being scored.

A fifth inning brought a few errors to the Indian defense, and the Red Demons were able to capitalize on them, scoring two runs off of the errors.

Freshman Aubree Thomas pitched the full game for the Indians, with eight hits, 10 strikeouts and only one run being earned.

The lady Indians are now 2-1 on the season and will host a double-header with the Red Demons on April 8 at the Bickle Schmidt Sports Complex in Hays.
