Lady Indians pull off victory at home against Abilene Cowgirls

Sophomore Brooke Denning drives into the lane for a shot in a recent game against the Great Bend Panthers. On Feb 13, the Indians pulled off a win over the Abilene Cowgirls, 57-37.

The Lady Indian basketball team are continuing to prove their winning record of 11-6 after the team’s victory against the Abilene Cowgirls on Feb 13.

After the first quarter, the Indians were up 19-2 against the Cowgirls, although the Indians would start the game out with the lead, they would not stay in the lead throughout the entirety of the game.

The Indians would put up 10 points in the second quarter, outscoring the Cowgilrs who only scored nine points in the second quarter. This put the Indians up 29-11.

The Indians would still have the lead in the third quarter, not allowing the Cowgirls to outscore them. The Cowgirls outscored the Indians in the fourth quarter as well, although it would not be enough to win the game, giving the Indians the 57-37 victory.

Leading the team to the win in scoring was sophomore Brooke Denning with 18 points, followed by junior Jaycee Dale with 14 points, sophomore Tasiah Nunnery with seven points, sophomore Isabel Robben with six points, junior Savannah Schneider with three points, and junior Madyson Flax with two points.

Leading offensive rebounds was Nunnery with three rebounds. Leading assists was Leiker with four.
