Lady Indians fall to Salina Central Mustangs; 63-35

The Lady Indians traveled to Salina to play the Central Mustangs on Feb. 9. The Mustangs, who are ranked second in the 5A class, outscored the Lady Indians and won the game 63-35.

Hays managed to score two points in the first quarter, trailing 12-2 after the first eight minutes. The Lady Indians picked up the pace in the second quarter, but were quickly matched with the Lady Mustangs. Hays made their last three shots of the half and trailed 26-14 at the half.

Hays fell behind by 17 points in the opening of the second half, but scored nine straight points, allowing the Lady Mustangs an 8-point lead. Salina Central led by 14 points after three quarters, finishing out the third quarter with a 38-24 lead. The Lady Mustangs shot 25 more points in the fourth quarter and took the victory with a 63-35 win.

The Lady Indians will be traveling to Liberal on Feb. 12.
