Girls cross country take eighth at Junction City

Senior Summer Smith finished with a time of 17:15 on Oct. 4.

The girls cross country team finished eighth out of eleven teams at Junction City on Oct. 4.

Hays finished with 188 points, ahead of Hutchison with 202, Salina South with 232 and Derby in last with 248. Maize took first with 45 points, followed by Manhattan and Wichita North both with 87 points. Maize South and Clay Center took fourth and fifth with 98 and 112. Taking sixth and seventh were Great Bend and Salina Central with 165 and 185 points respectively.

Individually, sophomore Marie Reveles took 25th with a time of 16:49. Junior Haley George and senior Summer Smith took 39th and 40th with times of 17:15 and 17:23. Sophomore Alyssa Bryant was 44th with a time of 17:49, while freshman Madison Schmidt took 44th with a time of 18:10.

In junior varsity action, junior Ashley Lang took 13th with a time of 18:38.

The next cross country meet will take place Oct. 11 at Salina Central.
