Volleyball now 4-8 after home meet on Sept. 19

The Indian volleyball squad has been stuck in a rut as it is now 4-8 after its loss to Salina Central on Tuesday Sept. 17 losing three out of five games and going 0-3 at its home meet Sept. 19.

At the home meet, Hays faced off against Garden City in its first match of the day. The Indians opened with a  16-25 setback in the first game but came back with a 25-18 decision in the second. In the third and deciding game, Hays lost to Garden 15-25.

Things didn’t started out smooth for the team in their second match of the day against Pratt as the squad lost in two games. In the first game the lady Indians lost 21-25 and lost 18-25 in the second game.

The girls were unable to turn it around in their last game as they lost to Ulysses. The squad  won the first game with a 25-23 decision but lost it in the last two games with a 22-25 decision for both.

Sophomore Madison Prough led the way with 27 assists along with senior Haley Wells who had 24. Sophomore Albany Schaffer had 57 digs while sophomore Audra Schmeidler had 24 kills.

The next action for the team will be at Nickerson on Sept. 26.
