After Friday night’s game, the football team did not look like they were playing for a play-off spot.
“I knew that the level of intensity wouldn’t be as high as I was expecting it,” Football coach Ryan Cornelsen said. “We just have to play harder than I saw them play today.”
The Indians won, 46-13. They also dominated in both areas of the offense in passing and rushing with an amassed total of 495 yards. The Indians took the lead early in the first with a 15 yard run by junior David Cardinal. Going into the half, the Indians led 28-0 holding the Irish on the Indians 3-yard line. After the half, the Indians turned up the intensity and scored on a 75 yard run by senior quarterback Austin Unrein. Chapmans points came late in the fourth quarter when a lot of non-starters came in to play.
The Indians will host their first game against Goddard on Sept. 9.
