Boys’ swimming has started up with plenty of splashing as of 21 boys are suiting up this season.

The three seniors are Ben Glassman, Max Haverfield and Timothy Kohtz.

“I’m just in it to get in better shape, and so far it’s doing a toll on my body,” Glassman said.

Juniors Nathan Adams, Torrey Contrerez, Dallas Kaiser, Lane Martin, Seth Miles, Jake Nelson, Nick Nolte, Kevin Rivera and Trevor Rohn will also be competing.

“I like our new coach, he pushes us. I hope to accomplish a new personal record over last year’s time,” Contrerez said.

The seven sophomores include Joshua Brungardt, Derek Drees, Spencer Greathouse, Connor Hess, Justus Jungnickel, Blake Mathews and Spencer McCue.

The rest of the team consists of freshmen Austin Chambers and Boone Pruter. Senior Abbey Homburg and juniors Madison Jones and Rebecca Moritz will be managing for the team.

The coaches are Noland Forsythe and teacher Ann Adams.

“I must say I am impressed with the dedication of the men swimmers,” Adams said. “If they continue to work for Coach Forsythe as they have been this first week, we are going to see some very positive results.  The only home meet is on Jan. 17, and we hope to fill the house with loyal fans.”

The first swim meet will be held Dec. 2 at Salina South.
