President-elect Donald Trump doesn’t promise bright future

Donald Trump wins presidency.

I used to think the United States was a country where I could live and do something great with my life. As of Nov. 8, I can no longer say I believe that.

After Donald Trump’s election, it’s safe to say my faith in humanity is wearing thin. When half of the country wants a man such as Trump to be president, I wonder how many of the people I know and say I love, want him too. I have no issue with most Trump supporters, but just knowing there are that many rattles me.

My biggest issue with him winning isn’t that he’s going to destroy the world because there is a system, I get that. What I’m worried about are some of the things he promised during his campaign such as building a wall, repealing Obamacare, defunding Planned Parenthood, and even targeting and killing the family members of terrorists. I’m fearful that he’s going to destroy everything we have worked for – women’s rights, same-sex marriage, rights for other races, and women’s reproductive rights.

Touchy topics like those are the basis of my concern. I want to make the world a better place and knowing there are so many people that did vote for him, and are against things I believe, is something that is going to take a while for me to understand. I thought the United States was a good place, a safe place, a progressive place, but it’s clear to me that we have so much more to do.
