While at the Tournament of Champions at Salina South, the forensics team received five medals.

At a meet at Salina South, the Tournament of Champions on Feb. 16, the forensics team earned five medals.

Twenty-two teams competed at the meet, with over 300 entries.

In Impromptu Duet Acting, freshmen Grace Wente and Shirley Lee-Jones medaled second, and sophomore Taylor Deines and freshman Mikiah Mermes medaled sixth.

Junior Mulu Bannister qualified for state, placing sixth in Dramatic Interpretation, a large competitive pool.

In Program Oral Interpretation, Lee-Jones broke semi-finals.

“We are proud of everyone,” instructor Codi Fenwick said.

Fenwick said the team continues to improve and grow with experience.

“Growth is evident by students’ individual ballots and the confidence they build each round,” Fenwick said. “It is always a pleasant moment when hard work pays off by breaking semi-finals.”
