The Academic Booster Club sells press box tickets as a way to raise money to give away scholarships.

The Academic Booster Club is selling tickets to sit in the press box at the football game on Thursday, Oct. 11. to raise money to give away scholarships.

“The Academic Booster Club does a number of things to raise money and recognize academics for kids and teachers,” principal Marty Straub said.

For students applying for scholarships from them they have to fill out a form regarding academics, participation in school events, citizenship and attendance, then they have to write a few essays.

“There are usually six or eight parents that look through all the applications separately and rank them and then it goes to the person who coordinates the whole thing,” Straub said.

A ticket to sit in the press box cost $150 a piece or $300 for a couple.

“There are only 36 seats up there so if we don’t charge a decent amount, we aren’t going to reach our goal of $5000 a year,” Straub said.

The press box doors open at six o’clock and they serve a meal for everyone.

“The view is awesome and if the game is cold it’s even more comfortable,” Straub said.
