During the StuCo meeting on Aug. 21, officers discussed the Back-to-School Bash and Homecoming committees. Leading the meeting was President Peyton Thorell, senior, and Vice President Shyann Schumacher, senior.

“Back to the Future” will be played on the football field at 10 p.m. after the Maroon and Gold Kickoff of Aug. 24.

There will be a $2 entry fee which includes a bag of popcorn upon entry. All proceeds will go to Student Council (StuCo) who is putting together the event.

“StuCo put the Back-to-School Bash together as a way to kick off activities at Hays High for the fall semester,” senior Vice President Shyann Schumacher said. “There will be a concessions stand, and I believe the Snow Cone stand will be making an appearance also.”

This will be the second year the event has been held.

“It went really well (last year),” senior Payton Selby said. “We had a really good turnout, and the kids seemed to enjoy it a lot, so that’s good.”

StuCo executive officers and advisor Alicia Brungardt encourage students to attend the event.

“I’m excited for everyone to have something they can participate in to start the year,” Schumacher said. “I think I speak for everyone in StuCo when I saw we want this to be the best year yet. I hope everyone comes out to watch the movie because the weather is supposed to be great and we want as many people to get involved as possible.”
