To raise money for the Ronald McDonald houses, DECA members set aside a day this winter and will be collecting donations.
“On December 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., we are going to be collecting donations at the south McDonald’s, north McDonald’s, and the Eagle Radio station,” junior Brianna Forinash said.
Junior Kallie Leiker said DECA has set a goal of $50,000 for their entire project.
“We don’t really have a goal for that day,” Leiker said. “Anything we can collect that day will contribute to our goal.”
Leiker said that students from both DECA classes will be at these locations to get donations.
“We did a radio interview [on Oct. 23], and it will be going around town,” Leiker said.
“This is the first time we have had this big of a goal, so we are really working towards it,” junior Isabelle Braun said. “Kallie, Brianna and I are working with Gail Kuehl of McDonald’s. She is helping us, but we are the ones putting it together.”
DECA has talked to Hays Post and Eagle Communications, Braun said.
“They are just going to tell people about it,” Braun said. “We are going to have people there all day, through the times that it is going on, to collect money from those who bring it in.”
