Students react to Donald Trump being our next President

There is lots of buzz going around the school with the election being over, and Donald Trump elected as our next President of the United States of America. Some students are ecstatic that Trump is our next President, while other students are filled with dread.

Senior Marie Reveles wanted Trump to win the election.

“He stands for things that I think are right,” Reveles said. “I think he will fight for what he says he will do and he is not just a pushover President. It made me very happy that he won.”

Senior Cooper Flores had initially wanted anyone except for Trump to win, but thinks he can help improve America’s economy tremendously.

“I don’t think Trump being President will be great but it could be really good for the economy,” Flores said. “He has been in business his entire life, he will do wonderful in an economical since. But, when it comes to his other presidential duties I am not sure. He seems to be a little childish.”

Junior Kamree Markley wanted trump to win because she agrees with his point of view.

“When he won I was very excited,” Markley said.

Senior Cameron Jensen was old enough to vote on election day, and she voted for Trump.

“I think he will actually get things done, and I don’t feel like Hillary Clinton would have,” Jensen said. “To me he is just another president, but I would rather it be him than Clinton.”

Seniors Paola Tinoco and Jacquelin Parades did not want Trump to win.

“I wanted Clinton to win because I didn’t agree with Trump’s views and I felt depressed that he won,” Parades said.

Strong opinions about the electoral college have come along with this election.

Reveles likes the electoral college, but understands why it upsets people.

“I think the electoral college is a great system,” Flores said. “It has a few things that could be tweaked, but is overall good.”

Parades and Tinoco don’t like the electoral college.

“I think they should have gone with the popular vote,” Tinoco said.
