Freshmen discuss their first days of high school

Upperclassmen remember the strain of being new to high school. The freshmen are just now figuring it out.

“The first day I was really nervous,” freshman Isabelle Braun said. “I wasn’t scared, though.”

Returners to the school may struggle to find their classes at first, but new students have to learn the school.

“My thought on the first day of school was ‘Yep, I’m going to get lost,’” freshman Kayli Potter said. “I figured it out though. There’s nothing to be scared about now.”

Middle school and high school have large differences. Adjustment is a necessity. Potter and freshman Addy Albers prefer the routine high school has versus their old middle school routine.

“I’m still trying to decide which I like,” Braun said. “I think I’ll like high school more, but right now it’s just so new.”

The freshmen’s biggest concerns are now whether or not they have friends in their classes, how much homework they’ll have, or how hard school will be.

“I’m glad to have friends in my class,” Braun said. “I’m not so glad I seem to be the shortest person in the hallways. I’m really rocking the dwarf look.”

Freshman Emma Brungardt’s favorite part of high school is passing periods.

“I love being able to use my phone in school,” Brungardt said. “I don’t like the fact that we still have seating arrangements.”

Potter believes the only thing she worries about now is staying out of the seniors’ way. Freshman Gabriela Arthur agrees.

“I really don’t like having seminar with other grades, otherwise it’d be great.” Arthur said.
