Despicable Me 2 Movie Review

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster “Despicable Me” entertained audiences around the world in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history.

I enjoyed 2010’s “Despicable Me” very much, so I decided to wonder and see “Despicable Me 2” as well. “Despicable Me 2″ told a funny, sweet, self-contained story about a man named Gru portrayed by  Steve Carrell, who renounces villainy and embraces fatherhood. It ended on a note that required no further assumption.

It is, however, Gru’s evil genius past that makes him the perfect candidate to help the Anti-Villain League.  A new threat is emerging, and Gru is the only person who can help. An AVL agent named Lucy (voiced by Kristen Wiig) is deployed to kidnap Gru and bring him back to headquarters where he is forcibly recruited to help the cause.

The mastermind’s place to be is in the mall. Hard to believe undercover work is done there. As Gru fights villains, he is still trying to be the responsible dad and cope with Margo and Agnes his lovely daughters.

Then there are the minions. If you’re a fan of the first movie, then you are a fan of minions, and they do not disappoint here. They help Gru figure out the villains plan.

While there’s really no redeeming educational value here, there’s no question that “Despicable Me 2” is one of your more likeable family movies with no shortage of laughs and heart.
